IFS Food Standard: Revision Process & Transition to Issue 7

Dr. Thijs Willaert Food Safety & Hygiene 2 Comments

Since the publication of the BRC Food Safety Standard Issue 7 in January 2015, many of our clients have been wondering when the IFS will follow suit with Issue 7 of the IFS Food Standard. Rest assured: the revision process has only just begun.

IFS Food Issue 7 Time Plan

After publication of the updated GFSI Guidance Document, which is scheduled for March 2016, IFS will begin the revision process of its Food Standard. The final version is not to be expected before March 2017. The new issue will only come into effect six months after publication. If IFS sticks to the schedule, this means the first certification audits according to IFS Food 7 will take place no earlier than September 2017.

As one of the leading certification bodies for the IFS Standards, DQS will continue to update its clients on the revision process and the main changes. To stay abreast of the changes, subscribe to our LinkedIn and Twitter pages.

Thank you for your question. There have been a number of delays in the development process. We expect the final version to be published by the end of December 2017.
