Update: December 2020
The IFS PACsecure standard is currently under revision. Version 2 is expected to be released in the second half of 2021. In the following, we will provide you with all the important information about the timetable and possible changes.
After the meeting of an Expert Review Group in March 2019, followed by an open consultation in April, the IFS PACsecure Review Group analysed the survey results, expert feedback, GFSI documents, market developments and the latest changes in the IFS Food Standard. Test audits have been going on since October 2020. The knowledge gained from this will flow into a second draft that will be submitted as a public survey. The finished IFS PACsecure Version 2 Standard is expected in the second half of 2021.
The purpose of the IFS PACsecure Standard is to assess the quality and safety of all types of primary and secondary packaging. One of the changes in version 2 is that unannounced audits will become mandatory. The standard requires one unannounced audit per period of three years. It can also be assumed that the standard can be partially audited remotely. However, at least 50% of the total duration of the audit must still be checked on site. In addition, new scope areas are expected, including paints, adhesives and waxes.
