What is supply chain security according to ISO 28000?

ISO 28000 is a security standard for all companies involved in a supply chain. It takes into account production, storage, distribution, transportation of goods (road, rail, sea and air) to the recipient. The standard helps you implement a continuous improvement cycle to reduce safety losses, minimize risks and at the same time make operational processes more efficient.

Who is ISO 28000 certification suitable for?

It is aimed at companies that want to improve their safety operations in terms of prevention, implementation, traceability and documentation within management. Furthermore, a safety management system contributes significantly to raising awareness of hazards at all levels of the organization.

Existing security standards (e.g. TAPA of the Transported Asset Protection Association, but also AEO, C-TPAT) can be bundled in a holistic system according to ISO 28000 . In this way, internationally active companies achieve faster, more cost-effective and documentation-secure processing in their day-to-day business.

The standard can be applied by companies of any size and at all stages of the manufacturing and supply chain.

Why does ISO 28000 certification make sense for my company?

Implementing a safety management system according to ISO 28000 will help your company improve reliability and supply chain security. By certifying to the ISO 28000 standard, you can provide reliable evidence that your supply chain is secure and that this security is continuously being improved.

In addition, further optimization opportunities can be discovered. These will be discussed and evaluated in detail during the audit.

How does ISO 28000 certification work?

In the first step, you discuss your company and the goals of an ISO 28000 certification with us. On this basis, you will receive an individual quote tailored to the needs of your company or organization.

These steps are elementary. A project planning meeting can be useful for larger projects, for example, in order to better align schedules and audit execution with sites or departments. The pre-audit provides an opportunity to identify system strengths and areas for improvement in advance.

The certification audit starts with an analysis and evaluation of your system and determines whether your management system is ready for certification. In the next step, your on-site DQS auditor evaluates the effectiveness of the management processes using the standard. The results are discussed with you at a final meeting and, if necessary, plans for further action are agreed.

After the audit, the results are evaluated by the independent certification board of DQS. If all requirements are met, you will receive the ISO 28000 certificate.

Either semi-annually or annually, key components of the system are re-audited on-site for further improvements. The certificate expires after three years at the latest. Prior to expiration, recertification is performed to ensure continued compliance in your supply chain security.

How much does ISO 28001 certification cost?

The cost of ISO 28000 certification depends on a variety of factors. For example, whether you already have a certified management system in place, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or TAPA, plays an important role. In addition, the size of your company and the complexity of the system have an influence on the duration of the audit and the price.

For these reasons, the costs for certification according to the ISO 28000 standard cannot be quantified across the board. However, we will be happy to make you an individual offer for your company, organization or authority.
